About Me

Hey, I’m Jess, and I’m just like you

I know what it’s like to be constantly busy and frustrated because you want to make healthier choices but finding the time to meal prep & cook, exercise regularly, and simply just take care of yourself feels completely overwhelming and exhausting! For most of my adult life, I struggled to find a way to balance a career, caring for loved ones, fostering relationships, enjoying hobbies, and my own health, among other things. As you might have guessed, my health and self-care almost always came last on the list until one day I finally said ‘enough is enough’. I knew something needed to change and I was ready to believe that there HAD to be a better way.

Fast forward to today, I did find a better way and am now dedicated to empowering others to explore how to integrate healthy habits into their lives and to redefine what healthy living means to them.

I’ve always felt a connection to birch trees. The birch tree symbolizes growth, strength, renewal, stability, initiation, adaptability, new beginnings, regeneration, hope, new dawn and a promise of what's to come. It grows upright toward the sunlight; shedding the dead outer layers revealing the healthier inner layer, much like the transformation that takes place for the individual through coaching. I believe in the beauty that emanates as one woman renews her relationship to her overall well-being leaving old habits, old beliefs and negativity behind. Health coaching is a client-centered partnership between you and me as the health coach. It is a process that facilitates healthy, sustainable behavior change by challenging you to develop your inner wisdom, identify your values, and transform your goals into action. In my coaching I draw on the principles from positive psychology and appreciative inquiry, and the practices of motivational interviewing and goal setting.
Traditional diets just don’t work! The idea of calorie restriction, calorie counting, food rules, ‘good’ and ‘bad’ foods, having to choose whether you are ‘on’ or ‘off’ the diet, obsession over the scale, and feeling ashamed or embarrassed for ‘failing’ is no way to live - as I’m guessing you have already learned.
The anti-diet approach is a radical shift in perspective putting the power over your health and your body back in your hands while taking it away from the diet industry constantly bombarding us with messages of what a ‘perfect’ body should look like and confusing us with the myriad of different types of diets out there.
I will not be giving you a specialized meal plan that you need to follow, but I will be educating you on proper nutrition so you can make informed decisions about what foods fuel your body best. I will not be telling you to go to the gym everyday and suffer through a workout that you hate, but I will be helping you to explore what types of movement fuel your body and feed your soul. I will not make you weigh or measure yourself (although if that motivates you, go for it!), but I will teach you to connect with your body and celebrate the changes you will experience in your body and mindset. I will not place a sole focus on food and exercise because you are so much more than that, instead I will encourage you to explore your life from a holistic perspective to ensure you are being nourished both on and off the plate. I will not tell you what I think is best for you, but I will help you reconnect with your body so that you can make empowered choices for yourself.
Does this take work? Yes, because we are talking about unlearning years if not decades worth of diet mindset and habits. Truth is, nothing changes if nothing changes. I will lovingly encourage you to explore limiting beliefs, experiment with journaling, practice mindfulness, stay accountable to your goals, and take ownership of your health journey. I can’t do the work for you, but I can be a supportive partner holding your hand and supporting you the whole way through. It may take a leap of faith to trust the process and I’ll be honest, the change will not happen overnight, but I promise you by choosing YOU and breaking free of the diet mentality - it is absolutely worth it!

I offer a variety of different coaching opportunities including one-to-one or couples private coaching, small group programs and occasional short reboot-like programs. Pricing ranges from $200-$800 per month depending on your program. Payment plans are available for all offerings.
